Young People’s Team

The Young People’s Team work with young people between the ages of 11 and 18 in the Exeter, Mid & East Devon, Teignbridge & South Ham areas. Our service is open to anyone for information, advice & support around drugs or alcohol, whether it’s their own use or a parents’ or friend’s.

The services we offer:

Targeted prevention programmes and interventions for vulnerable young people to improve their general health, well-being and life chances.

Work with mainstream education, training, employment, and youth services to encourage individual service users to develop life skills to enhance their social inclusion and opportunities.

Provision of assessments for young people around their drug use and develop appropriate treatment programmes which address substance misuse, risk management, physical and psychological health, social functioning and life opportunities.

Work within a multi-disciplinary framework and establish links with relevant social care, education, health, criminal justice, family support and voluntary sector professionals.

Work with parents and carers of young people to help maximise the impact of treatment and prevent relapse.

Provision of support and information for young people whose parents/carers misuse substances.

RESPECT:

EDP provides a service funded by the Government RESPECT programme, aimed at working intensively with a small number of families. The families that we work with must have some degree of difficulty with alcohol use and anti-social behaviour. We and other agencies work with them together to try to address the alcohol issue and improve life for their local community by tackling the anti-social behaviour.
